Yoga

The word yoga means “union”. Through the union of postures (asanas), breathing (pranayama), relaxation and meditation we create calm and release tension. This union helps us to achieve self-awareness and balance.

Relaxation through yoga is brought about with the use of exercises such as “deep breathing”, “thought stopping” and “visualisation”.

Proper Exercise (Asanas)

If our lifestyle does not provide natural motion of muslces and joints, dis-ease and great discomfort ensues with time. Yogic exercises give a complete overhaul of the entire system and build strength and flexibility. They are caalming and are practised with conscious breathing and deep relaxation. Asanas not only produce physical benefits, but are also mental exercises in concentration and meditation.

Proper Breathing (Pranayama)

Yoga teaches us how to use the lungs to their maximum capacity and how to control the breath. Proper breathing should be deep, slow and rhythmical. This increases vitality (prana) and mental clarity.

Proper Relaxation (Savasana)

By relaxting deeply all the muscles, the Yogi can thoroughly rejuvenate the nervous system and attain a deep sense of inner peace.

Proper Diet

Eating a diet of foods high in life-force protects the nervous system and promotes calm. The yoga diet regulates the body’s systems and combined with yoga exercises and breathing, enables the yogi to replace unwanted flab with a firmer body, safely and without hunger.

Meditation

It’s said we become what we think. Learning and practising the techniques of the philosophy of Vedanta can develop a positive outlook on life. The mind will be broughts under control by regular practice of meditation so you become clearer, more focuses and centred in the self.
